The New Zealand GM testing regime is one of the strictest in the world.

MAF requires proof of testing for GM before seed can be cleared at the border for entry into New Zealand, and if there is any indication of GM content the seed is not allowed in. A consignment that has been tested offshore in a MAF-accredited laboratory, according to the method in our import protocol, will not be tested again unless there are genuine grounds to suspect that GM seeds are present. This means that seed from non-GM as well as GM producing countries are required to be certified GM-negative before it is allowed into the country.

Have you ever noticed that as you’ve been to more and more weddings, you start to notice trends in how weddings are planned and arranged? Wedding dresses are constantly evolving, wedding reception halls continue to be up-to-date in a certain fashion sense, and the actual wedding and reception are becoming less and less traditional. But have you ever noticed wedding flower trends? Yes, they change as well. Have you decided what kind of flowers you want at your wedding?

The most chic centerpieces this season focus on one or two key elements. Rather than having floral displays with a lot of different types of flowers in a variety of colors, pick one type of flower or one color to use. If you choose a single type of bloom, you can keep the look totally streamlined by using it in only one color, or go for a bit more drama by pairing two contrasting colors. The hottest choices are the boldest, such as fuchsia and orange or red with lime green.

If you like a bit more texture and variety for your centerpieces, then choose one focal color and mix together a variety of flowers in that hue. Any shade of green is especially in vogue right now. It is in keeping with the trend towards more natural weddings, and green flowers combine very well with colors like bark brown for an eco-chic wedding.

With all of these simple floral displays, it is up to the vessels to add some oomph. Many floral designers are getting away from the cookie cutter effect of matching centerpieces on every table. More special is to get a variety of vessels that tie together. This trend works with either the traditional round dinner tables or the long tables that are popular these days.

When you are looking for the perfect vessels for your centerpieces, think about what will work best with the overall style of your wedding. For instance, brides who are wearing formal ballgowns with opulent bridal jewelry sets will want to find centerpiece displays with the same luxe feeling. A perfect complement would be antique silver vessels in a variety of shapes and heights.

Brides who are going for a more modern style, with sleek gowns and minimalist sets of bridal jewelry, will need an elegant and contemporary way to display their flowers. Lucite vessels are an ideal solution. These clear forms, often done in square or rectangular shapes, will highlight the beauty of your flowers in an absolutely modern and unfussy way. The nice thing about lucite vases is that they are clear, so they will make it easier for your guests to see around them on the reception tables.

Another trend in wedding flowers is not really about flowers at all. With the idea of bringing a touch of nature to the wedding, some couples are introducing other natural elements either to go with the flowers or instead of flowers. The trend includes things like smooth river rocks, moss, and tree branches, all artfully arranged. One great way to use this idea in your wedding is to fill a clear vessel with smooth pebbles or rocks, fill it with water, and float a single perfect blossom on the top. It is the ultimate in natural chic design.

With all of these ideas in mind, you may find it easier to narrow down the overwhelming options for your wedding flowers. You can still use your favorite flower, whatever that may be. Simply ask your florist to create a centerpiece design that uses your chosen blossom in one of the most current trends.

Internet flower delivery is quickly becoming the number one way to send flowers. Most internet flower delivery sites offer same day delivery anywhere in the world. They guarantee freshness in fact most online flower delivery services deal directly with the grower cutting out the floral shops.

This eliminates the flowers being shipped to a floral shop several hands handling the flowers and the days delay from being picked to sold. Online flower sites receive many more orders per day so the turn around on the flowers is much quicker meaning the flowers will stay alive much longer and the customers will receive the flowers more fresh.

Let’s not also forget the convenience of ordering online. You do not have to drive to the floral shop which save’s you on gas and we all know that is not cheap anymore. No high pressure sales to buy anything except what you like. You can order online twenty four hours a day seven days a week. You may laugh but, we have all been there forgot a birthday, anniversary, or even Valentine’s Day. You can order from your computer at work.

Most internet flower delivery sites will also let you set up for delivery of flowers throughout the year with one easy purchase. I mean what lady wouldn’t love flowers once a month every month. All you have to do is set up and pick out the flowers in one easy visit. Think of the rewards you would get for ten minutes of looking online when she thinks you are spending hours every month. Out of town funerals or funerals you cannot make it to are also made simple.

We do not want to overlook the number one reason that online flower delivery is growing so rapidly; the pricing is cheaper! Just about every internet flower delivery web site has daily specials of their less expensive or slow moving flowers. And how can we forget dear old mom on mother’s day you may live hundreds or even thousands of miles away but can have the most beautiful flower arrangement sent right to her door step.

What if you are ordering flowers in another city? You can call information get the number of a local florist but, with a phone call you cannot see what you are ordering. You do not know that companies reputation. There is no guarantee of the arrangement you are sending. Online you can see the arrangement and pick out the exact flowers you are looking for. You also, on average, get more flowers in an arrangement when you order online versus a local flower shop.

In the end you really cannot go wrong with internet flower delivery. From more for your money to the freshest flowers available. Internet flower delivery is the way to go.

The popularity of flowers is continuing to grow (no pun intended!), and there’s no end in sight. You can turn your backyard nursery into profitable plants in no time. Seriously, it’s really quite easy. Soon you can be making really good money, all from fresh cut flowers.

Flower growers make good money. How much? On average, flower growers are making $20 to $30 an hour. You can easily make several
hundred dollars in no time. And there are a lot of potential sales out there. Just think about where you see flowers: parks, backyards, shopping centers, offices, restaurants, hospitals and many, many more places. These flowers have to come from somewhere. Why not your backyard nursery?

When starting out, choose a few flowers. Start small and let your business grow naturally. Here are a few popular fresh cut flowers:

*Ageratum – Two cultivars, “Blue Horizon” and “Florist’s White,” are particularly popular for market growers.

*Consolida Ambigua – This is a productive plant in your garden, and is widely used by florists.

*Helianthus Annuus – This is also known as a “sunflower,” and continues to be popular.

*Achillea – This can produce hundreds of flowers over a couple years.

*Gypsophilia Paniculata – This is a widely-used filler in floral arrangements.

So what’s going to make you a top seller? Having really healthy plants. Take good care of your plants to see that they grow up looking beautiful and healthy. Only use organic materials, such as organic fertilizers. These help the plants grow at a steady and less-stressed rate than chemical fertilizers. Be sure to add some mulch to your garden to avoid weeds. Also, stop wind damage by planting tall shrubs to provide a windbreak.

And don’t forget about those pesky pests. Use insecticidal soaps, Neem or “sticky traps” to help stop this treat. Take care of your soil, and you’ll see your plants turn out the way you want them to.

Also, grow what people want! Listen to your customers. If you can grow what people want, then they’ll continually turn to you for their
flower-growing needs. Growing healthy plants and the plants that people want will make you the go-to flower grower in your town. So where can you sell your profitable plants? There are many ways. Here are a few to get you started:

*Farmers’ markets – These continue to be popular events that draw big crowds eager to find the top local growers. Set up a stand or booth and get selling.

*Mail-order sales – Place an ad in the classifieds or in gardening catalogs. Keep running the ad, and soon people will recognize it, and you’ll be the one they call.

*Fundraisers – People are more than willing to spend a little money if they know part of it is going to a good cause. Sell your flowers at a
fundraiser, and donate some of the profits to a local charity or other good cause. It makes your flower-growing business look good, while also putting some money in your pocket.

There are many advantages to using silk blooms. The first major pro must be obvious enough. Silk flower arrangements have longevity. Did I say a long time? Silk bloom arrangements last forever. Silk wedding flowers really have the advantage of not wilting, which is something to think about if you’re having a warm-weather wedding or if you’re partial to very delicate flowers that have a tendency to droop quickly. Likewise, they don’t freeze in cold weather. Silk blooms and their silky blossoms just don’t wither up and die like a real flower. If you want to keep your wedding flowers forever, the simplest way to do this would be to get fake flowers. They’ll generally look good and could be a cherished keepsake of your special day.

Also, it comes with an endless choice of flowers that you just do not have access to if you’d like real flowers. For instance, you can get dark silk flowers. This would be difficult to get in real flowers. You do not have to worry about how you can set up silk flowers generally, since most come prearranged.

Another advantage of using silk arrangements is security. Perhaps you or someone in your family or in the wedding party is allergic to true flowers. You don’t just want the best man or even the minister to be sneezing all through the ceremony or red-eyed in the pictures. Or even worse, you don’t want your wedding party to end in the hospital.

One key advantage silk blossoms have over genuine flowers is the early delivery – if there are any problems they can be repaired in plenty of time. On the other hand, real flowers are shipped the day of the wedding ceremony, so if the flowers are less than perfect you are tied to them. Although silk blooms are extremely natural (in some instances, indistinguishable from real flowers), for a lot of brides, only true flowers will do. Whether silk or real, your wedding flowers should completely complement every aspect of your wedding.

The very last major advantage of silk blossoms is the cost. It is possible to buy wholesale silk blooms and pay much, much less than you would for genuine flowers. Wholesale discount silk flowers are readily available, and you may even buy silk flowers in bulk. This is usually a benefit in case you are on a limited budget for an important event, say, like a wedding. Silk wedding flowers, including silk bridal flowers, silk flower displays, silk flower candle rings for the tables, and silk flower peony bouquets, can be purchased for at least a third of what you would spend on real flowers.

If your loved folks are living at a distant place, then you must select a florist that has numerous affiliations in the national as well as the international sphere. Nowadays there are various online florists that have a network of flower farms and flower stores on an international level. Many online florists also offer hefty discounts, which attracts a large number of buyers.

Normally, the online florists that make international deliveries have a wide collection of special flowers that are of a very good quality. The flowers or flower arrangements that are received by your recipient are always in a very fresh condition. Most of the online florists that make international deliveries assure all their buyers with a hundred percent delivery guarantee. You would be given full confirmation through the e mailing facility, when your recipient would receive your gifts. There are many online florists that charge some processing fees, specifically for their international deliveries.

At The English Garden, flowers are more than a business; they are a way of life. As third generation florists, founders Warren English and Cydney Davis-English had the wonderful experience of literally growing up in the business—their mothers both kept playpens in the design room. More than sixty years ago, their grandmothers, Warren’s “Nanny” in Wilmington, NC, and Cydney’s “Granny B” in Roseboro, NC, opened florists when they were left as single mothers (one divorced, one widowed) with young families to rear on their own. Their parents each continued their family’s floral tradition. Warren’s mother, Sarah, owned and operated an award-winning florist in Wilmington, NC, until her retirement in the mid-1990s. After Cydney’s grandmother’s retirement, her father, Richard, opened his first florist and together with her mom, Sidney, they have been among the state’s most successful and respected shop owners for over forty years.

The English Garden is a locally owned and operated full-service florist and gift store serving the Raleigh/Durham Triangle and its surrounding communities, including Cary, Morrisville, RTP and Chapel Hill. They appreciate the opportunity to assist you with your floral and gift needs. Visit their Wedding Flowers website for more information about their Wedding and Event services.
